About the 19th Century
Thinking is densed emotion, Im gesamten 19. Goldene Zeitalter gedeihen in schlechter Erinnerung. Jahrhundert fasste ins Auge, was Technologie in ihrem Eingriff bis ins Alltagsleben bewirkt. In diesen Straßenströmen, in diesen „Durchbruchstraßen […] Dahingegen wuchsen in der „Gotik die Wände in die Decke.“ xxii Der Londoner Kristallpalast ging ebenfalls in die Breite (übrigens ein Beispiel der Genremalerei): The Crystal Palace from the northeast during the Great Exhibition. By Dickinson Brothers. Zivilisierte Städte hingegen sind schachbrettartig geordnet.xxxv English Translation: 19th Century was forth and back, from aristocracy to democracy and back to aristocracy. Democratization was not an easy process, it took that whole century, in context with Europe. In it, industrialization in its mass production sprang up to this day and in its acceleration of the working and private world. Speed of all-dayThe acceleration is notable in the traffic: The trams, the railways and automobiles became ever more powerful and faster. The speed of the communication accelerated with telegraph and telephone. These accelerations by technique also favor accelerations in other areas of life which are not directly technical, such as e.g. decay of patience or how fast fashion changes. By fashion you belong to society. By the 21st century, at the latest, technology will be added to the social factor: It will make participation in Internet as the second main condition for admission to society (including the world of work). Here & NowEvery stream of a world-view has its gradient from the golden age in which it matured, for its meaning falls with increasingly bad memory.i It gets forgotten how much pitch and sulfur lay around. Golden ages thrive in weak memory. In the image, and thus in the present moment, the dialectics of the past and the now are contracted into one point. In this point, the image presents itself as something that has ever been, and along with other images, they gather as dream images. Like a chain of images shimmering in a somehow-being-one, a collection of images, held together by the ego. The interpreter of dreams is the historian.ii The historian shows his contemporaries, how long ago the drama began, in which they find themselves in. He shows them, which actor owned which prop. The recent past presents itself, as if it had been destroyed by the missed opportunity.iii Historic enlightenment occurs, when the steam of the past moment on the saucepan lid condenses as the now drips into the boiling water. The present is the single, large molecule of water. An historical object of a thing must be cut out of its pre- and post-history. Before the materialistic historiography, an object like that was compared with other phases of history and episodes, without a qualitatively meaningful, result-leading overall connection with them. Materialistic historiography contracts the muscle tissue of past towards a compact timeline, drawn upon the historical flesh. There are blind spots of what has been, but also knowledge of this blind spot and thus awareness and possibility to adjust the side mirror and experience the not-yet-knowledge. The nineteenth century is one, in which "individual consciousness becomes more and more reflective, whereas collective consciousness sinks into ever-deeper sleep." Is the 21st century the epoch of the reawakening of collective consciousness through the Internet, in particular? CultureThe culture holds a mirror in front of face of man and it shows what he meant to be so far, on the other hand, also it is a novel of alienation of self-image of man, deducted by his latest achievement: the independent tool, becoming more independent each day. In itself purely material, but alive and movable without further interaction. Where does the definition of the qualities called "animated" and "living" begin from now on? A machine line under a factory roof is psychodynamic, because of the acceleration and increase of the production quota, or rate. Simultaneity of a commodity in different moments, thanks to several machine lines, now housed under a factory roof. The pace and time of work and leisure will, from now on, be at the speed of new techniques. Culture reflects and is inspired by the humana conditio – the human condition. The working world with its paltry existing workers' rights of the 19th century and acceleration, which partially abolishes human attributes and pervades the entire city life. “What is a machine?” - man asks himself in the Anthrocene. “What am I?” the machine will ask itself in the Technocene – the age whose conditions are being determined by machines, AIs, Quantum AIs, the age, in which the face of Earth is shaped by man’s tool, instead of ourselves. The precision and objectivity and simply fidelity to reality, that were considered properties of technology, made painters in the early 19th century paint in realism and hyper-realism. For example, Denner spent four years working on a realistic depiction of a portrait with a magnifying glass.iv Realism was a competition-inspired attempt, to be on par with photography.v Later, artists used art in the Art Nouveau ornamentally; instead of working against it, the technology was therefore woven into and accepted morally. The following classic modernism in the early 20th century caught, what technologies bring in their intervention into everyday life and how they affect it. Aesthetically, as in Art Nouveau, also motif oriented, as in Futurism with its simultaneity of a human at different points of a fast action or technological novelty per se, as well as other styles. Both, Art Nouveau and Futurism take technical elements, discard them from the functionality and consecrate them with nature-related motifs.viA style of the 20th century was influenced by a technique in the form of the overall presentation and redefinition of the shape can be represented as own experience: Expressionism transforms and transcends the coloring so much beyond the subjectivity of its own, the first time diving through the painter and again back to the viewer, so that subjectivity increases: The internal is expressed to the "externa"; in the first contact with the expressionism, photography apparently can not keep up with it. However, photography will have made the staging and props serviceable to render enormous art. Art in the 19th century answered to the photography with enhanced coloration & contrast (Fauvism), stylization (Art Nouveau with floral ornaments) and a new mission style (ductus of impressionism). Art in the 19th century is revolutionized by photography and art, in turn, will find its way into literature in 20th century writers, e.g. expressionist Kafka, or Film Noir.Architecture">> Three generations did not know what urban planning is. We know it, but knowledge about missed opportunities usually brings us only grief [...] <<"vii, because the crisis is a trail of what is surrounding, evident and present, but what its cause is and what produced it, is in the blurred distance. In the city, time-rivers are flowing in the streets: when one human steps from “a house of the 18th century into one of the 16th century, then one falls down a time slope, next to it stands a church from the Gothic period, one gets into the Depth, a few steps further you are in a street from the Gründerzeit."viii A quarter arises when a stream of history flows into another. Woven times, from a moment intertwined with the past. Politically unprocessed things are expressed in the urban, are carried out in the city - in other words: Missed things are the disaster that make everyone sit up. The crisis is on fire as long as the status quo remains and persists. The means against status quo are progress.ix By the city planner Haussmann, visual axes were divided to the requirements of modern road and rail traffic. Old Town and New Town are one. In these street streams, in these "breakthrough streets, the new city [...] infiltrates the old city, [...] [so that they] are united in one."x The term “engineer” is rooted in the division of architecture into art and – architecturally relevant – into the construction.xi It came to light when officers of siege art were given a name, namely 'engineer'. The arcades have their particularity in their roofing; their side walls hide from the visible. As indicated, nineteenth-century architecture is preferable to the horizontal, the broad. The French Royal Palace took over the width from Italian Renaissance Palace, as did the stations, because: The 19th century building projects are broad railway stations, wide exhibition halls and department stores, in which all three of the city dwellers strollxii, namely dandy, flâneur and collector. On the other hand, in the style of "Gothic, the walls grew into the ceiling."xiii The London Crystal Palace was also broad (by the way, an example of genre painting): “The Crystal Palace from the northeast during the Great Exhibition“, By Dickinson Brothers. It was built for the 1851 World's Fair in London and does not exist anymore. It was the first major construction of glass and iron. Furnished in a "fairytale-orientalistic" way and with an interior of "bronze monumental groups, marble statues and fountains"xiv A palace of iron and glass inspired the world. It allows a new shape.xv Under glass skin of the palace, a magic forest of palm trees gathered, mingling with 500-year-old elms in the foliage. In the center a fountain of glass crystals. The Sagrada Familia by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi gives the cityscape of Barcelona a model form by a masterful building, like no other city has in similar size of Art Nouveau.xvi In her belly you can hear the roar of the motorized and technological world.xvii This technology is taking on, among others, an Art Nouveau motif: "The profiles of iron diffund as ornamental facades […]"xviiiThe inside of the houses: pendulum clocks and candelabra are on the fireplaces.xix The cabinets have sliced windows in their doors. The theatrophone is by its very nature the precursor of the gramophone and the precursor of the radio. Orientalism comes to the fore, flourish from the tailing and the complicated twisting. The carpets are laid in an arrangement that stems from passing defensive postures. One turned over to get outlook to two sides, and also to put the chair over the carpet. This originates from military structures set in all directions, which gave a great lookout, so bastions of the fortress are built at prominent angles. All diagnolly.xx1837 Rococos aftermath: The saloon, the towing dress was the tunic in antiquity, the drinking glass was drinking vessel, the shoes came from the buskin and the guitar developed from the lyre.xxi In one impression stands a round tea table, covered with a blanket falling down in folds. On it, a florid and thus floral formed lamp bristling full, on the crown of such a light paper, which is constantly in motion because of the ease.xxii The stuff, that surrounds the interior as the wrapping skin of furniture, is the plush. In the steps of stair, colorful glass was used. An impression of mirrors in a restaurant, whose mosaic sills are fragile and lead to a glass door. "Since the door and walls are broken by mirrors, one knows neither one nor from dubious brightness."xxiii A smooth asphalt of the streets and the abundance of glass panes and mirrors give brightness to the cafes and their cramped cabinets, or compartment, or Separees are spatially expanded by the mirrors: the spatial boundary blurs, the wall becomes blurred. The mirrored cafe is extroverted, pushing with its inventory and brightness to the outside and engulfed by clear blank glass, the outside world in the image-reflecting mirror surfaces. There are light echoes. Their gloss lose color, dissolves in the reflection of the outside light. The architecture of Ledoux is one with a tendency to revolutionary architecture with block-like structures, to which "stairs [...] adhere like a box."xxiv One would like to think to have been discovered something warlike in this style.xxv It may further be thought that "by masses certain effects are produced", the tariff belt, which consists of several, tariff lines that control the masses. According to Ledoux, these barriers should be more than guard houses. The commune of Fourier, a social theorist, is also known as specifying Phalanstère called and as such for 1620 people in a self-sufficient settlement community to give a biotope, so his will. According to Fourier, primitive cities are arbitrarily arranged buildings surrounded by "badly pierced" streets. This applies to most 19th century French cities. Civilized cities, on the other hand, are arranged in a checkerboard pattern. xxvi,TThe Inventory of the 19th CenturyGerman first, English below Im gesamten 19.
